1001 Video Game Songs: Theme of Super Metroid

Those words have been burned into the memories of those who've heard this iconic line. Other than the novelty of spoken dialogue in a video game, the theme that comes after it is nothing short of classic.

It perfectly set's up the mood of the game. It starts out very eerie and foreboding like the original theme., Making you feel uncomfortable. But then it starts to sound more heroic, reminding you that your playing as the galaxy's best bounty hunter. You get both a sense of danger, but also adventure when hearing this theme. And later tracks in the game will take cues from this one.

Theme of Super Metroid, or just simply Prologue as it's sometimes known, has become just as iconic as the original NES game's theme. Having appeared in numerous titles afterwards, most recently in Samus Returns. But as before with the NES Metroid's theme, the first version is the most iconic rendition, and Metroid fans know this song by heart. It may even be the Metroid franchises anthem, but there are other tracks that could fill that spot just as well.
